A revolutionary combination of advanced filter media and an encapsulated ion particle charging chamber makes it possible for the Blueair air purification system to achieve better results than either mechanical or electrostatic technology alone. Our nontoxic polypropylene filter contains millions of ultra- thin fibers that trap tiny particles as they pass through the pleats. One of the least harmful plastics for human health and the environment, polypropylene works without outgassing or shedding irritating microscopic fibers into the air. It eliminates bacteria, viruses and mold naturally, without chemical additives also captures more dirt than competitive systems. And as used filters are discarded and decompose, the filter media converts into harmless carbon dioxide and water.

Particles a HEPA filter alone might miss are captured with an electrostatic charge. HEPASilent™ technology moves particles through an enclosed ion chamber, which attaches a charge to the particle itself. Charged particles cling more easily to the filter media, resulting in higher filter efficiency overall. Because most electrostatic air cleaners charge the filter media itself, the charge dissipates over time and renders the filter less efficient. By constantly charging incoming particles, instead of the filter, HEPASilent™ technology keeps on working effectively and reliably.

*Standard HEPA filters measure efficiency at 0.3 microns. A typical HEPA filter removes 99.97% of particles of the 0.3 micron size. HEPASilent technology removes 99.97% of particles at 0.1 micron on it's lowest speed.

How they work: The filters in Blueair products are HEPA but with more open pores to allow flow more easily and quietly through the filter. To achieve full HEPA air purifier effectiveness, the system has internal electrostatic ionizers that charge the flow prior to passing through the filter media. This causes the particles to be attracted to the filter media. The negative ions are filtered out of the flow stream by the activated carbon and tests have shown an actual reduction in ozone.
Smoke Stop Filter Option: For use in smoking environments these air purifiers are also available with a Smoke Stop filter set making them a great smoke air purifier. These filters are loaded with an extra-heavy amount of activated carbon to absorb the smoke chemicals and particles making these one of the best smoke air purifiers on the market.
