The Ionic Air Purifier with UV cleans the air by trapping airborne particles as they circulate past an array of electrically charged stainless steel blades. Contaminated air from the room is drawn in through the vents at the back of the unit. As the particles enter, they are electrically charged and are attracted to the oppositely charged collection blades inside (like cat’s fur to a sweater). These charged particles will stick to the blades until wiped off by the user.

A regular fan works by rotating and physically pushing air with its blade. In a typical HEPA filter, a noisy motor will power a rotating fan that make noises as it spins. In contrast, the Ionic Air Purifier with UV works by using electrostatic forces to move air molecules. Our air purifier utilizes an electrical charge to create air that is densely packed with both positively and negatively charged ions. (An ion is an atom with positive or negative charge.) Similar to the power of same-pole magnets which push away from each other, this electronic propulsion is absolutely silent.

To be truly effective, ALL air purifiers should be run continuously. Indoor air pollution rapidly returns to pretreatment levels when an air purifier is turned off. Air cleaners with noisy fans bigger power demands are impractical and too expensive to run continuously. In contrast, the Ionic Air Purifier with UV is designed to run 24 hours a day, everyday of the year because it is completely silent and energy-efficient to operate, it only uses 28 watts.

The Ionic Air Purifier with UV technology is effective at trapping airborne particles as small as 0.1-0.3 micron. (A micron is VERY SMALL. The width of a human hair ranges from 50 to 200 microns!) The Ionic Air Purifier with UV effectively traps very small particles such as tobacco smoke, bacteria, and larger-size particles such as mold spores, pollen and dust.

Yes. In fact, the Ionic Air Purifier with UV is very effective in removing airborne particles in submicron ranges. Compared to the HEPA fan-based air cleaners, the is the better choice. Both HEPA and the Ionmax Ionic Plasma effectively remove airborne particles in the submicron ranges. HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Arresting) technology drives air by fan through a super-fine disposable filter made of paper. The Ionmax Ionic Plasma is preferred because:-

• the Ionic Air Purifier with UV’s permanent collectors can be simply wiped clean. The Ionmax Ionic Air Purifier with UV has no disposable filters to find, buy, store and replace. HEPA machines require expensive replacement filters.
• the Ionmax Ionic Air Purifier with UV is silent, runs on 28 watts and is designed to clean the air continuously. HEPA machines are noisy, require more power and are impractical to run continuously.
  Used in conjunction with other allergen removal steps suggested by medical specialists (e.g. limiting carpeting in the room and using mite-proof bedding), the reduction in airborne particles by the Ionmax Ionic Air Purifier with UV helps to create a low-allergen environment.

The size of the room affects the time it takes to reduce airborne particles to the lowest concentration. Additionally, other important environmental factors can affect particle levels, including:

• Presence of pets
• Activity in a room
• Ventilation
• Level of outdoor air pollution

Depending on the amount of air pollutants in the environment, the stainless steel collection blades should be cleaned once a week for effective result.
(IMPORTANT NOTE: The collection blades should be cleaned immediately after you enjoy a fire or candlelight because smoke and airborne residue from burning wood, wax logs or candles is so substantial.)

Simply slide out the collection blades and wipe them clean with a damp cloth, paper towel or sponge. The blades also may be rinsed clean under the tap or with a kitchen sprayer.
(IMPORTANT NOTE: It is very important that the collection blades are allowed to dry completely before sliding them back into the main housing as electricity is passed through the blades!)

Yes. Our UV lamp is created by Phillips and is manufactured in Holland; it resembles an ordinary fluorescent tube. This UV lamp is completely shielded inside the unit and meets all safety requirements for home appliances. In fact, the visible blue light that you see is not the UV because UV is invisible. The lamp will turn off automatically when the rear cover is removed. There are important usage and safety guidelines in the instruction manual, but the Ionmax Ionic Air Purifier with UV is as safe as any other common electrical appliances, even in homes with pets and toddlers.

The UV lamp inside the Ionmax Ionic Air Purifier with UV helps to kill a wide variety of airborne bacteria, mould and viruses that circulate into the unit. The specific energy found in the photons of the UV ultraviolet light – at a wavelength in the range of 2537 Angstroms – is just the right amount to physically destroy the DNA of microorganisms. In other words, the microorganisms have a specific sensitivity to this light and therefore suffer a damaging effect to their molecular bond. The DNA structures of these microorganisms are damaged and are not able to replicate. Viruses are especially susceptible to destruction by brief exposure to UV light. The idea to use ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI) technology is not new and has been used for decades in hospitals, health-care clinics, water treatment plants, the food industry and elsewhere to reduce bacteria, mould and viruses.

Unlike conventionally air purifiers which requires the replacement of expensive filters, the cost of maintaining the Ionic Air Purifier with UV is low as only the UV lamp needs to be replaced and it cost a mere $33.00 for a replacement lamp.
